Artist Spotlight – Mike Posner
August 2011-
At 22 years old, Mike Posner has quickly become a singing sensation. His career began in 2009 when he released a mixtape that he had recorded in his college dorm room on iTunesU. Shortly after it’s release, “A Matter of Time” hit Number 1 on iTunesU.
As Posner’s album became more and more loved, major-labels began a bidding war. Eventually Posner settled on J Records in the summer after his junior year of college.
His debut album, 31 Minutes to Takeoff, featured many collaborations with famous artists such as Katy Perry, Ke$ha, B.oB., and Bruno Mars. This album featured songs such as “Cooler Than Me” and “Please Don’t Go”, both of which were hits in countries around the world. The irresistible beats and catchy hooks helped his album soar to the Top 10 on U.S. music charts.
