Artist Spotlight – Ayla Brown

August 2011-

Massachusetts born and raised Ayla Brown is no ordinary girl. Her father is Massachusetts junior senator, Scott Brown and her mother is former WCVB-5 reporter Gail Huff. She is one of the top female high school basketball players in the state scoring 2,358 career points making her the 6th all time leading scorer in MA between men and women. At age 15, she was being scouted by Boston College where she ended up playing 4 seasons with the Lady Eagles and graduated with a degree in Communications in 2010. She has been recognized by Sports Illustrated, WCVB-5, and NECN for her athletic talents.

In the summer of 2005, the popular TV competition show, American Idol, held local auditions at Gillette Stadium. Again, Ayla was above average. Her audition song of the Marvin Gaye song “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” won over judges Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. She moved on to the Hollywood rounds and eventually got eliminated after reaching the top 16 with her rendition of Natasha Bedingfield’s “Unwritten”.

Since Idol, Brown has performed many places around MA, including Kiss 108’s Kiss Concert, Fenway Park, and even the National Anthem with the Boston Pop on the 4th of July. Ayla has gone on to release two albums and an EP.

Ayla is currently in Nashville, TN and can frequently be seen on Great American Country (GAC) covering numerous events. She is touring with her newly formed band which you can catch here at the Topsfield Fair for FREE on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 at 5pm in the Grandstand.
