Fruit & Vegetables
The Junior Fruit, Vegetables and Decorative department tries to get the entire family participating at the fair. Whether you want to display your own grown vegetables, decorate a pumpkin, create a veggie creature, show your artistic ability with a poster or create a wall hanging we have someway for you share your talents. We have classes offered for every age group (4yrs-100yrs old) including some classes for troops,clubs, schools or families. So don't just come to the fair; join our fair family by participating.
We offer ribbons, Prize money, and Medals for participants who for example Have the best educational exhibit, Win the most 1st placed ribbons, Show the most Team spirit or simply have the best Vegetable plate in the show. Honestly, the best prize is the pride you feel knowing your creation is being seen by thousands. You are truly part of Topsfield Fair.
The judging criteria for vegetables and fruit include uniformity of size, shape and color and trueness to type. Decorated pumpkins, veggie creatures, posters and wreaths are judged for creativity, execution, appropriateness to age and set-up participation, including effective use of a given theme.
Barn Safari
Yes, we still have the Scavenger Hunt or our "Barn Safari." This is a fun way to see the vegetable building. Answer a few questions such as, "What is the weight of the Largest Pumpkin?" or "Name me a root vegetable," and earn a Topsfield Fair participant's badge.
